Saving a dog

This winter I went to my village at Bartsham. It is a really peaceful place far away from the town. But right now this is just the introduction. We went there for my great uncle’s funeral.but we kids don’t really like to mingle with all these religious stuff so we would rather enjoy the fresh air and run on the pasture land, But not this time.

The next day we reached Bartsham around the evening a dog was bitten by the other dogs. And this girl (my cousin) is the main rescuer. She also wanted to be a vet so now this is a career for her and she saves the poor dog.

But the dog’s wound is deep and the chances very slim. And we can only do this if the dog (later named Reychey) is going to help himself. Our elders told us that he is no more and we should pray to god to give him a better rebirth. But that didn’t help Khenden or me. we were very upset and I felt like killing the other dogs which bit the puppy. But around midnight when I went to drink water I saw he was still alive. I told khenden and we slept peacefully.

In the morning we were so freaking happy the dog was alive so we thought of giving it a name and thus we decided to name it hope. But we wanted it to be Bhutanese so with the help of my English- Dzongkha offline dictionary we decided to keep it reychey, which means hope in Dzongkha.
We unlike other times agreed on this one. Khenden is also a rubber band fanatic and decided to make a collar for the dog and we spent the day inside for the evening.

we were really happy that our cousins came so we played with another puppy and decided to keep her so that she is not targeted by the dogs and named her Angela. but we also made sure reychey was taking plenty of rest.
But around mid day we found that reychey was licking, moving and making the wound bigger so we had to take him to a real vet to get his wound stitched. Well everybody was busy and no one but my dad and khenden's dad agreed to look. but when khenden's dad refused we had to take out the big guns. so what is more annoying and worse than a girl crying.so finally when he agreed to look he saw it was horrific so we were of to the vet.over there the vet stitched the wound and also put an injection for rabies. we were glad that the wound was stitched and thats how we saved the poor dog.
